Mizzou Tennis Caps off Their Undefeated Road Trip

The Mizzou Tennis team swept both Army and Binghamton on Sunday afternoon, each by a score of 4-0, to wrap up their perfect road trip. The Tigers, who are 5-0 so far in the early goings of the 2018 season, started off strong in the doubles matches. The pair of freshman Serena Nash and senior Clare Raley secured a 6-3 win, while the duo of Mackenzy Middlebrooks and Ellie Wright won by a score of 6-2 to clinch the doubles point.

Over in the singles side, Mizzou quickly clinched the win thanks to great performances from freshman Taylor Gruber who won by a score of 6-1, 6-1. Middlebrooks and Wright also grabbed wins for the Tigers, who won their matches 6-1, 6-2 and 6-2, 6-2 which gave Mizzou the sweep over Army.

To wrap up their New York road trip Mizzou took on Binghamton, where the Tigers continued their dominance. In the doubles matches, Nash and Raley ran through their opponent without surrendering a single game. After that, the all-freshman duo of Gruber and Ally Noback took to the court. Noback was making her dual match debut for Mizzou, where she posted a 6-1 win with Gruber to secure the doubles point for the Tigers. The duo of Middlebrooks and Wright continued their undefeated season, as their match was suspended when they were up by a score of 5-0.

At the end of the day, in their singles matchups, Mizzou made quick work of Binghamton. Raley won her match without giving up a game, winning 6-0, 6-0. Nash notched a 6-1, 6-1 win, and Gruber closed out the match with a 6-3, 6-0 win.

Mizzou had an absolute dominant weekend, winning all three of their meets. Four players went undefeated on the weekend, and out of 27 matches Mizzou dropped only three.

The Tigers will stay on the road following their weekend in New York, when they take on Virginia Tech on Saturday, Feb. 3rd.
