Mizzou Tennis won two meets against Northern Iowa and UMKC Saturday at the Mizzou Tennis Complex. The Tigers blanked the Panthers, 7-0, in the morning meet, then defeated the Kangaroos, 6-1, in the night cap.

Senior Kelli Hine and junior Bea Machado Santos were the stars for the tigers all day, each recording two wins as partners in doubles and two in singles play. Hine and Santos are the 56th ranked doubles partners in the country.

Against Northern Iowa (0-2), the Tigers (4-0) won by default in one doubles match and one singles match after the panthers were only able to dress five players.

Hine and Santos teamed up to defeat the Panthers’ Jieke Stroobant and Elvira Lopez, 6-2. In singles matches, No. 3 sophomore Brianna Lashway and No. 5 sophomore Clare Raley both only lost one game apiece to win the meet before No. 1 Santos, No. 2 Hine, and No. 4 junior Brittany Lashway won their own matches, respectively.

In the night meet against UMKC (2-1), the Tigers won the doubles team point after picking up victories at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. Hine and Santos defeated Melinda Johnson and Raquel Argenal, 6-3, while the Lashway sisters, Brianna and Brittany, defeated Dimitria Stavrianakou and Mariana Albert, 6-0.

Mizzou picked up five wins at the top-5 slotted positions in singles play, including a 6-0, 6-0, win at No. 3 from Hine. Brittany Lashway clinched the team win in the No. 4 position with a 6-4, 6-1, win over Argenal.

The Tigers will be back in action next Saturday when Mizzou hosts Saint Louis and Missouri State on Feb. 6 from the Mizzou Tennis Complex. First serve is slated for 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.
