The Tigers started off strong, gaining a 1-0 lead for the night when they won two of the three doubles matches. It began with their top team of University of Texas transfer Cierra Gaytan-Leach and sophomore Elisha Gabb dominating the Kangaroos team of Laura Bouet and Eva Dalvai 8-2. UMKC was able to bounce back with a win in the 3rd doubles match, as Amelie Amsallem and Suzan Lisenby were victorious over the Tigers’ Alex Clark and Madison Rhyner. 8-4. The No. 2 match would decide which team came away with the point, and it went to Mizzou after senior Maria Christensen and junior Rachel Stuhlmann won a hard fought 8-7 match over Dimitra Stavrianakou and Gabby Pintos.

Once it the contest turned to singles play it was all Mizzou. At No. 3, Gabb easily dropped Stavrianakou 6-2, 6-0. Christensen pulled off the 6-2, 6-0 win over Lisenby and Gaytan-Leach reigned supreme at No. 1 with her 6-1, 6-4 victory over Boulet to clinch the win for Missouri.

Stuhlmann displaced Dalvai 6-1, 6-1 to push the Tigers lead to 5-0, and Rhyner’s 8-5 win over Amsallem at No. 5 put Mizzou one win away from the clean sweep of their in-state foes. Clark finished it off for the Tigers when she ousted Maddie Schulte 8-2 at No. 6.

It will be a quick turnaround for Missouri, as they’ll hit the home court again when Stephen F. Austin comes to town for their 11 a.m. showdown Saturday at the Green Tennis Center.
