At the San Diego State Invite, the Missouri Tigers women’s tennis team closed out their fall season by taking home four event titles. Five different Missouri players walked away with an event title, but sisters Brianna and Brittany Lashaway led the Tigers, collecting a combined three titles over the weekend.

Overall, the Tigers claimed two singles titles on the weekend, with Brianna Lashaway winning the “Green” bracket over Loyola Marymount’s Anna Romeka (7-6, 6-2) and Brittany Lashaway winning the “Grey” bracket by defeating Air Force’s Lily Forlini (6-0, 6-1).

In doubles play, senior Alex Clark teamed up with Brianna Lashaway to defeat UTEP’s Davina Meza and Duda Santos (8-4) in the “Red” bracket championship match. Junior Kelli Hine paired with sophomore Beatriz Machado Santos to triumph over Riko Shimizu and Julija Lukac from Washington in a tiebreaker (8-7, 5).

In the “White” doubles consolation bracket, junior Madison Rhyner and Brittany Lashaway defeated UC Irvine’s duo of Gala Strong and Jennifer Andra to claim third place (8-3).

With the event victory, Brianna Lashaway, the younger of the Lashaway siblings, claimed her second straight title, as she also won the Hoosier Classic singles title. The win at the San Diego State Invite was also her second singles title ever, and puts her on a six match win streak heading into the end of the fall season.

The Tigers return to the court on Jan. 17 to kick off their 2015 spring season against UT- Arlington, and have their home opener on Jan. 28 with a double header against Northern Iowa and SIUE.
