The 2020 Indoor Track Season is officially in full swing. The Tigers traveled to College Station, Texas to compete in the Texas Aggie Invitational. The Texas A&M hosted meet featured a field of five teams, consisting of Texas A&M, Baylor, Texas Rio Grande, Texas Southern, and Mizzou.

Mizzou’s distance squad made themselves known, by bringing home first-paces finishes in the men’s and women’s 3k, first in the men’s mile, and second in the women’s mile. The field team added to this success by placing first in four events of their own. Martin Prodanov, Marquette Wilhite, and Victor Mugeche grabbed the top three spots in the 3k.

Ja’Mari Ward set a new meet record in the long jump with a mark of 7.92m. Roberto Vilches notched a first place finish in the high jump with a mark of 2.17m. This is his second first place finish in a row. Patrick Kunza took home the win in the weight throw with his mark of 18.94m. The song remains the same on the women’s side as Jordan McClendon threw her way to her third first place finish this season with a mark of 20.68m.

The start of the season has been promising for the Tigers and they will look to build on that momentum as they drive on further into the season. Next week, Mizzou will once again travel south as they take on the Razorback Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The meet will be run on January 31 and February 1.
