The Missouri track and field team competed in the Wooo Pig Classic in Fayetteville, Arkansas against the Razorbacks. The Tigers ended the competition with three first place finishes from senior Ja’Mari Ward in the Men’s Long Jump, sophomore Euphenie Andre in the Women’s Triple Jump and sophomore Georgi Nachev in the Men’s Triple Jump. In addition to that, junior Ariana Fisher finished in second in the Women’s Triple Jump behind Andre.

Ward edged out Arkansas freshman John Baker by .10 meters as Ward jumped a distance of 7.88 meters. Andre in the triple jump ended up jumping 13.18 meters, which would beat out Fisher’s distance by .07 as Fisher’s distance of 13.11 which got her second place in the event. Andre also set her personal record after this weekend. Finally, Nachev notched a distance of 15.57 beating out USC junior Jalyn Jackson. Just like Andre, Nachev set a new personal record of his own.

After the meet, head coach Brett Halter had some encouraging words for this group after a successful showing. “Another solid weekend for the Tigers. We added several more athletes to the competing mix this weekend. It was nice to see so many personal bests tonight across the board. Another example of the quality of work our team have out in over the last several months coupled with their willingness to be tested in the competitive arena.”

Halter also was hopeful of possibly having athletes compete in the NCAA Indoor Championships which would be in March. “We have much more work to get done over the next couple of weeks heading into February. I fully expect several Tigers, both men & women to be at the NCAA Indoor Championships in March.”

The Tigers will be returning to Fayetteville to compete again in the Arkansas qualifier hoping for a similar result on Feb. 5.
