The Mizzou Track and Field team split up this weekend, as the mid-distance team ran at the Iowa State Classic and the rest of the team headed to the Tyson Invitational.

The mid-distancers were highlighted by redshirt sophomore Martin Prodanov who is now sixth in the Mizzou record books after finishing the mile in 4:02.91. He placed sixth at the meet. Freshman Jonathan Schmidt set a PR in the 800 with a time of 1:55.20. Senior Thomas George was the only Tiger to compete in a true distance event. Geroge took fifth in the 5k with a 13:51.32 finish.

The Tyson Invitational saw most of the weekend’s action for the Tigers. The meet held in Fayetteville, Arkansas wrapped up Saturday afternoon. Sophomore Arianna Fisher, who sits second in the Mizzou record books, placed first in the triple jump with a 12.92m mark. Senior Karissa Roman and sophomore Roberto Vilches both finished third in women and men’s high jump. Roman jumped 1.77m and Vilches jumped 2.21m. Redshirt freshman Victor Mugeche finished second in the 3k with a time of 8:23.80. Junior Lexi Maddox finished sixth with a time of 10:07.96 on the women’s side. Emily Stauffer finished second in the shot put with a throw of 16.06m

Next week, the Tigers will host their final indoor meet of the season with the Missouri Collegiate Challenge. The following weekend marks the start of the Tigers’ postseason run at the SEC Championships.
