Mizzou Volleyball continued SEC play Friday night in Oxford, Mississippi against Ole Miss for a two-match series. The Tigers went into the series hoping to end their fall season with a win.

Tigers own Anna Dixon opened the match up with a kill. The Tigers proceeded to dominate offensively with Dixon, Dariana Hollingsworth-Santana, Kylie Deberg and Kenna Sauer. The Tigers controlled the outcome of the first set, winning 25-13.

Mizzou began the second set allowing Ole Miss to take an early lead. The Tigers brought on their defensive play with some attack errors coming from the Rebels. Mizzou then fell short from their own attack errors, allowing the Rebels to take set two, 25-23.

The Tigers hoped to bounce back from set two to extend the match in the third set. The Rebels gained the lead for set two, testing the Tigers defense. The Tigers did not back down as Deberg and Hollingsworth-Santana took the lead with back-to-back kills. The Rebels could not gain back their early lead, as the Tigers take set three, 25-13.

The fourth set continued to be a battle on offense for both teams, Deberg and Hollingsworth giving the Rebels some beginning kills. The Tigers couldn’t keep up on the offensive end, as they fell short giving the Rebels set four, 25-19.

The fifth and final set worked in Mizzou’s fair due to Ole Miss’s attack errors. Dixon and Deberg gave the Tigers non-stop kills and service aces. Dixon ended the fifth set with an assisted kill from Deberg. The Tigers take the fifth set, 15-4.

Following the opening set victory, the Tigers have now secured a first set win in all seven matches played this fall.

The two-match series with Ole Miss and the end of the fall 2020 schedule concludes Saturday afternoon in Oxford. First serve is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. and the match will be aired online at SEC Network + via WatchESPN.
