The Missouri Tigers volleyball team defeated the Alabama Crimson Tide 3-2 Friday night.
It took all five sets for the Tigers to find victory but they’re quest would not be denied. On the brink of a loss, down two sets to one, Mizzou was able to turn the tides and find momentum in the fourth set.

Momentum was exactly what they needed. The Tigers were able to feed off that and an electric atmosphere in Tuscaloosa to ultimately clinch a narrow 18-16 victory in the fifth and final set.

This Mizzou-Bama matchup was a nail-biter through and through. Each set was just as close as the next, the biggest margin of victory for either team in single set was five. All other sets were determined by three points or less.

Giving Missouri the edge was a 73 kill team total, the Tigers first 70+ kill performance since December of 2010. Kylie Deberg and Leketor Member-Meneh each recorded 21 kills in the game. Tyanna Omazic added 11 kills and three total blocks to the winning effort.

Interim Head Coach Joshua Taylor was proud of his courageous crew stating after the game: “I’m pleased with our ladies for continuing to fight and battling until the very end.”

With the win, Mizzou stands at 15-6 overall on the year and 7-4 in SEC play. They conclude a three game road trip against the Georgia Bulldogs on Sunday. Next, they return home to the Hearnes Center on November 15th for a rematch with the Alabama Crimson Tide.
