Mizzou volleyball arrived back at the Thompson-Boling Arena for their second match against the Tennessee Lady Volunteers. After falling to the Volunteers on Friday in a 3-2 game, the Tigers anticipated on conquering the second match to their two series game. The series concluded on Saturday, February 13th, at 5:30 p.m., Day Two of a two-series game.

The Tigers started with the lead for set one. A dominating offensive play from transfer student Anna D’Cruz with back-to-back kills, widening the lead for the Tigers. Claudia Dillon dominating the floor. Dillon came for the Volunteers defense with deadly outside kills. Constant kills from the Volunteers Offense brought them to set point. Volunteers took set one, 25-22.

With set one, the pressure was on the Tigers. An early lead allowed the Tigers to take control of this set. Mizzou brought on their offensive play fighting to keep lead. The Volunteers did not back down as they applied pressure on the Tigers to take the lead by five points. Tennessee took set two, 25-17.

The outcome of set two brings this to a 2-0 game, the match is brewing with dominance from the Lady Volunteers. Anna Dixon starts the competition by serving the Volunteers a smashing kill gaining the lead for the Tigers. Tennessee responded to Mizzou’s offense with a kill from Lily Felts, allowing the Volunteers to have the lead 17-15. The Lady Volunteers continued their lead and swept Mizzou for another set, 25-22.

The Lady Volunteers were victorious over the Missouri Tigers with a 3-0 outcome. Claudia Dillon and Anna D’Cruz led the Tiger’s offense with a combined 20 kills for the game. Dillon had 11 kills and two digs, while D’Cruz set her season-high of nine kills.

Amongst these top tigers, redshirt junior setter Jaden Newsome ended with four kills and 28 assists. Freshman Emily Brown continued her success with a record high 12 digs, the most of any Tiger.

The Tigers fall short for their two game series against the Tennessee Lady Volunteers. The Tigers return to Columbia for matches against Georgia Bulldogs next Friday and Saturday. Both matches are streamed on SEC Network+.
