Mizzou Volleyball Kicks off NCAA Tournament Play Against #19 Kansas

The Missouri Volleyball team heads to Wichita, Kansas to take on the Kansas Jayhawks in the first round of the 2017 NCAA Tournament. This will be the Tigers 14th appearance in the NCAA postseason since 2000, and their sixth bid in the last eight seasons. Mizzou looks to build upon a strong regular season, in which they went 20-11 overall, while going 13-5 against SEC opponents. That record lead Mizzou to a third-place finish in the Southeastern Conference, which is the third time in as many years that they have finished in the top three of the SEC. This was also Mizzou’s third 20 win campaign in the last five years, and that is their eleventh 20 win season under head coach Wayne Kreklow.

The Tigers made a very deep postseason run last year, advancing all the way to the Elite Eight, and then losing in three sets to the Minnesota Golden Gophers. But the Tigers have a tough test in their first game, taking on the Kansas Jayhawks. Kansas went 22-7 in the regular season, leading to a #19 national ranking. But the Jayhawks hit a slight skid at the end of their regular season, losing three of their last four matches, including a 5-set loss to an unranked West Virginia team at home.

First serve will be at 6 PM, for the first game of the Wichita bracket.
