Coming off a loss to Texas A&M on Wednesday, the Missouri Tigers bounced back on Sunday taking care of the LSU Tigers with a 3-0 sweep [25-14, 25-21, 25-19].

Despite it being just its third road win this season, the victory marked Missouri’s sixth sweep of the year and second in conference play. The Tigers also snapped a two-match road losing streak.

The visiting Tigers took advantage of an errant LSU attack, as the host Tigers committed 27 attack errors and nine service errors. Both junior Carly Kan and redshirt sophomore Kira Larson finished with a team-leading eight kills for Mizzou.

Missouri jumped out to an early lead starting off the match with four unanswered points. Larson and junior Emily Thater each tallied three of the Tigers’ 13 kills in the first set. Sophomore Courtney Eckenrode also put in full day’s work, posting eight assists in the opening set.

Mizzou struggled in the second set and fell behind 21-19. However, the Tigers stormed back and finished the second set on a 6-0 run to take a 2-0 overall lead. Kan posted two of her three second-set kills during Mizzou’s late run.

The Tigers finished off LSU in the third set boasting their defensive prowess. Mizzou recorded four blocks in the final set and finished with 10 blocks. Freshman Alyssa Munlyn led Missouri with five blocks and both Larson and Thater had four blocks.

The 21-4 (9-3) Missouri Tigers will return to the Hearnes Center on Friday, Nov. 13, at 6:30 p.m. to welcome the 5-19 Georgia Bulldogs. Catch all the action on the SEC Network.
