Mizzou WBB Continues to Roll

It was all Tigers at Mizzou Arena on Sunday, as the women’s basketball team dominated Arkansas by a score of 88-54. The game took in front of a great crowd, who were encouraged by another tremendous effort from Mizzou on the court. The victory drew the Battle Line Rivals even on the hardwood for the year, with the Razorbacks mens team having beat the Tiger’s earlier this month.

Continuing their best start in program history (17-2, 5-1 SEC), Mizzou came into the game ranked No. 11 and will almost certainly continue to climb in the ranks after an excellent performance in their win against the rival Razorbacks.

Missouri controlled every aspect of the game from start to finish, taking an early double digit lead in the first and not dropping below that again. Sophie Cunningham had 22 points to lead a group of 5 players with 12 or more points, including Kayla Michael, Lauren Aldridge, Jordan Frericks, and Jordan Chavis.

This great offensive effort was fueled by a not only a dominant long range effort (13-25; 52%) but also a successful inside game, out-boarding them 43-33 while also shooting 52% from the paint.

In addition to their outstanding game offensively, Missouri’s defense stifled Arkansas, limiting them to just 33% on field goal attempts and racking up 6 steals and 6 blocks with a fantastic showing by Sophomore Amber Smith, who contributed 3 blocks and 2 steals.

Mizzou will try to continue their excellent season when they travel to Georgia to play the Bulldogs(17-2, 5-1 SEC) at 6pm on Thursday in what should be a fun matchup.
