Monday, December 5—

After a dominant win on Friday, the script was completely flipped as the Missouri Tigers women’s basketball team (6-3) couldn’t keep up with the hot shooting of the IUPUI Jaguars (6-1). The Tigers lost the game 73-45 in Indianapolis.

Starting at the 5:05 mark in the first quarter, IUPUI used a 16-5 run to break the 6-6 tie and jump out to an 11-point lead early in the second. It was more of the same in the second as IUPUI’s Danielle Lawrence hit the first two shots in the quarter for the Jaguars. IUPUI shot 56 percent from the field in the first half and didn’t look back. The Jaguars finished the game shooting 52 percent from the field and 50 percent from the 3-point line.

Mizzou sophomore Sophie Cunningham had eight first half points and finished the game with 13 total points, but battled foul trouble most of the game. She even got a technical foul with 1:59 left in the third quarter. The only other player to score in double figures for the Tigers was fellow sophomore Cierra Porter, who had 12 points. Porter has now reached double figures in points in every game this season. Cunningham has now reached 10 points in eight of her last nine games. The leading scorer for the game was Lawrence with 24 points.

The Tigers will look to rebound on Wednesday as they host the SIU-Edwardsville Cougars in their first game of a four-game homestand. The game tips off at 7 p.m. on SEC Network Plus.
