The Tigers had an up and down season where they struggled to find their footing as they struggled through conference play. Coming into Sunday’s matchup the Tigers were 4-9 in conference play and came off a tough loss to Tennesee on Senior night. 

Mizzou’s Opponent Mississippi was very similar record-wise as they were very inconsistent throughout much of the season and were just under .500 in conference coming into the matchup, but were coming off of two straight wins against opponents LSU and Auburn.

The Tigers came out of the gates as they went on a 14-6 run to start the game and would end the first quarter with a 17-12 lead. Mizzou would hold this lead for most of the first half as they would push their lead to double figures going into halftime with a 40-24 lead.

The Tigers would continue their stellar play coming out of the break as they would end the third quarter with a 64-40 lead. Throughout the game, Mizzou Shot 43.8% from the field and was on fire from downtown as they shot 40% from downtown. The Tigers would go onto win the game by a final score of 77-57. 

The defense for the Tigers really stepped up as they had 11 steals with a career-high six coming from freshman Mama Dembele, Mizzou also held Mississippi State to just 13.6% from downtown. 

Guard Shug Dickinson lead the Tigers in Scoring off of the bench with 16 points and hot shooting from downtown as she went 4-5 from three-point land. Forwards Hayley Frank and Shannon Dufficy had nice outings scoring 14 and 10 respectively. Guard Aijha Blackwell Struggled from the field but contributed 12 points and a team-high 14 rebounds.

Mississippi State would fall to 10-8 on the year and 5-7 in conference as they get ready for the SEC tournament where they will face LSU. Mizzou improves to 9-10 overall and 5-9 in SEC play the Tigers look to carry this momentum into the conference tournament as they face off against Alabama on March 4.
