In the golf season opener a few weeks ago for Mizzou, the women’s team had placed 14th in the presence of all the other SEC schools, and Southern Mississippi. For their second and most recent tournament on Oct. 19-21 in Starkville, Mississippi, the outcome repeated itself with fierce competition from all the SEC schools and a 14th place finish, just ahead of Southern Mississippi in 15th.

Freshman Emily Staples made her Mizzou debut in the tournament. Her performance was highlighted by her first career eagle in the opening round. Staples rounded out her Mizzou start finishing T-62 and 15-over par 231.

Mizzou senior Noelle Beijer, who had a strong performance in the season opener in Arkansas, led the Tigers in competition along with sophomore Sophia Yoemans, who both finished T-38. Yoemans shot an even-par 72 on Tuesday, and ended the week with a 2-over 74 and a 4-over 76.

Beijer ended with a 6-over par 222. She cemented her performance with five birdies in the opening round and third round, ending with eleven total. Beijer continues to remain on a hot streak for finishing in the Top-40 during competition. The most recent tournament marks the ninth time in a row Beijer earned a Top-40 spot since beginning her Mizzou career.

Overall, the Tigers ended the three day contest with a 51-over par 915. Mizzou women’s golf team will travel to Athens, Georgia to compete in the Liz Murphy Fall Collegiate Classic. The tournament is scheduled to be held Nov. 6-8, and it will be the final tournament of their season.
