MU’s Family Weekend Offers Many Activities, Fun For Parents and Students

23 News gives you an inside look into MU’s family weekend.

Friday, Sept. 23 – Sunday, Sept. 25 –

The weekend of September 16–18 marked MU’s annual Family Weekend, where parents and students are able to spend quality time together while enjoying different activities sponsored by the university.

In order to take advantage of the great activities, parents had to register online and check-in on Friday or Saturday at the Student Center. The purpose of Family Weekend is to provide parents the opportunity to spend time with their students while engaging in the Mizzou experience.

This year marks the first year that all academic departments were involved in the weekend long event, giving parents a chance to explore each department and see what they have to offer. All residence halls participated too. On game day, several residence halls hosted Mizzou spirit sign making parties, while others encouraged parents to stop by for refreshments and leave a sweet note for their student.

There were 50 scheduled activities, and the Coordinator for Parent Relations Laura Page said such a huge campus wide event is not easy to organize.

“Planning for Family Weekend begins in the spring,” said Page.

In total, over 4,500 people registered for Family Weekend.
