The University of Missouri men’s golf team finished 13th out of 14 total teams upon conclusion of the SEC Championships on Saturday, April 25.

Though not the finish the Tigers hoped for, it wasn’t all bad. Graduate student Rory Franssen ended with his spring-best individual finish as he was tied for 20th with an 877 (68-71-75) total score across the three-day tournament. That finish led the MU team.

The next best finishes came from Sophomore Yu-Ta Tsai and Junior Tommy Boone who both ended the week tied for 53rd. Over the three-day tournament, they both shot a total score of 221, 11 over the par of 210. Boone’s performance piqued on day 2 with a 2-over 72 score, while Tsai stayed consistent over the three days with one 73 and a pair of 74s.

The worst finish for the team came from graduate student Walker Kesterson who shot a 24-over 234.

The fate of Mizzou’s season remains in the hands of the selection committee for the NCAA Men’s Golf Tournament on Wednesday, May 5. If selected to compete, their regional match would take place in a yet-to-be-determined location from Monday, May 17 to Wednesday, May 19.
