J.J. Angelo-23 Sports

The University of Missouri volleyball team played their first home game of the season on Friday, September 13th. The Mizzou Tigers welcomed the Governors of Austin Peay State University to the Hearnes Center. The first set was closely contested but the 21st ranked Tigers were able to find the victory, 25-21. The ensuing sets would not be nearly as close thanks to a sensational performance from Mizzou junior Kylie Deberg. Finishing with 17 kills in the game, Deberg was able to take Mizzou to another level. The Tigers would win the next two sets with ease by scores of 25-10 and 25-14. Other big contributors to the winning effort were Leketor Member-Meenah and Tyanna Omazic with nine kills each. Worthy to note, Mizzou sophomore, Andrea Fuentes, had 44 assists alone on the game, the entire Austin Peay team combined for just 23.

The Tigers close their homestand against UMKC on Saturday and Boise State on Sunday. Keep an eye on the calendar for September 20th, as the Tigers travel to Waco, Texas for a matchup against the 5th ranked, undefeated, Baylor Bears.
