No. 2 Louisville Causes 23 Turnovers, Beats Mizzou 84-61

Friday, Nov. 23-

In one of the most anticipated matchups of the season, two preseason conference players of the year led their teams into the semifinals of the Battle 4 Atlantis.

Phil Pressey and No. 13 Missouri could not find an answer to Peyton Siva and the No. 2 Louisville Cardinals as the Tigers suffered their first lost of the season, 84-61.

The Tigers got the game started early with a three pointer from Pressey and held that lead for four minutes, however that was the only lead the team had all game.

Missouri committed 12 turnovers in the first half and Louisville capitalized, converting 17 points off of the Tigers’ blunders and 31 points off turnovers for the game. The Tigers coughed it up 23 times.

After a shaky and turnover-filled first frame, Missouri only found itself down by eight, 39-31.

The second half belonged to the Cardinals though, as they shot 65 percent from the field including 5-8 from beyond the arc. Louisville outscored Missouri by 15.

The Tigers could not find a way to get past the full court pressure from the Cardinals all game. Louisville forced Missouri into foul trouble early and often.

Pressey may have had 15 points, but he also turned over the ball eight times. Alex Oriakhi also contributed 15 points for the Tigers.

Siva took control of the game and made a huge impact for Louisville with 13 points and six assists. The Cardinals had five of their 11 players in double-digits, led by Luke Hancock with 19 points.

Missouri (4-1) moves on to the consolation third place game for the Battle 4 Atlantis against the Virginia Commonwealth Commodores with tip-off set for 6 p.m. Saturday.
