Senior first baseman Kelsea Roth hit her second walk-off home run of the year, as the Missouri Tigers softball team upset No. 8 Auburn 5-4 on a two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Mizzou improved to 22-6 on the year, with a 5-3 record in conference play.

Sophomore Tori Finucane rebounded off of her rare disappointing start last week, and improved her team leading win total to 11.

Things were quiet until the third inning, when Auburn hit a two-run home run to make a 2-0 lead.

Mizzou answered right back though, as junior 2B Sami Fagan sent her own homerun into the seats cutting the lead in half.

Finucane continued to keep things close, and in the fifth inning junior right fielder Emily Crane hit an RBI double tying things up at two a piece.

Going into the seventh inning the score remained the same, until the long ball hurt Mizzou again as Auburn smashed a solo shot to extend things to 3-2.

However Mizzou’s fate would not yet be sealed, as in the bottom of the inning, Jordan Zolman lead off with a double followed by Taylor Gadbois bringing in the tying run on infield single.

Finucane came back out for the eighth inning, making it her longest outing of her career, but again was doomed by the long ball as Auburn hit another solo shot extending their lead yet again.

It was the third time that Auburn had broken a tie, and would be all for Finucane as she finished with eight innings, allowing just five hits while striking out eight.

Mizzou found itself in familiar territory trailing in the bottom of the eighth when Roth stepped in with a runner in scoring position, looking to win it.

Roth ripped the 1-0 pitch to dead center field for her 38th career home run, giving Mizzou the dramatic walk-off win.

Mizzou looks to win the rubber match of the home series on Sunday with the first pitch set for noon.
