Runs came in from all angles Friday evening as Mizzou Softball knocked off Lakeland 16-4 in game one, and turned in an 11-0 shutout victory in the second leg of a double header at University Field.

It was a similar story in both games on the evening as Mizzou got off to a fast start and never looked back. The Tigers took an early lead in game 1 and never trailed throughout the rest of the night.

In game one, the Tigers’ offense exploded for 21 hits, lead by junior Kristen Mack who went a perfect 4-for-4 with 3 RBIs and 2 HR. Mack has reached on all eleven plate appearances this fall.

Redshirt senior Taylor Gadbois added four hits of her own, along with 4R, and fellow redshirt senior Sami Fagan tacked on three hits and 4 RBI with a home run.

Sophomore Amanda Sanchez and Sydney Sprague and freshman Rylee Pierce each tallied a multi-hit game, combining for seven of the 21 Tiger hits.

On the mound, the Tigers were just as dominant. Junior Tori Finucane started the game and went 5.0 innings giving up two earned runs. In relief, junior Cheyenne Baxter gave up two runs in 2.0 innings, however, only one of which was earned.

Game two followed the same trend—it was all Mizzou. This time, however, the pitching was just as impressive as the offense.

Sophomore starting pitcher Paige Lowary went 5.0 shutout innings while recording 10 strikeouts. Freshman Danielle Baumgartner came in to complete the game with 2.0 shutout innings of her own.

The Tiger offense tallied 18 hits, lead by juniors Chloe Rathburn and Natalie Fleming and sophomore Sara Harvey, each of whom had three hits. They combined for 5 RBI and half of the team’s hits in the nightcap.

Four other Tigers turned in multi-hit games, including Pierce who had a combined four hits on the day.

Mizzou will continue their fall schedule next Friday, Oct. 2 with a pair of games. They will take on Heartland Community College at 2 p.m., followed by Grand View at 4 p.m.
