In February, the month of love, the most important holiday you can celebrate is Galentine’s Day. Coined by Leslie Knope in the iconic “Parks and Recreation” episode “Galentine’s Day,” Galentine’s Day is, well…

Girlfriend love is the most important love, and the best way to get excited for a day celebrating womanhood is by listening to some amazing songs produced by powerful women. This playlist only features songs by female artists and has sections for every Galentine’s Day mood.

“Woman (Oh Mama)” by Joy Williams
“Confident” by Demi Lovato
“Survivor” by Destiny’s Child
“Woman” by Kesha
“Q.U.E.E.N.” by Janelle Monáe (feat. Erykah Badu)
“Bodak Yellow” by Cardi B
“Girl on Fire” by Alicia Keys

The first section, “WOMPOWERMENT,” is filled with songs intended to get your Galentine’s Day mood into full swing. With powerful lyrics from Joy Williams like “I am the universe wrapped in skin” and Janelle Monae’s “I’m cutting up, don’t cut me down / Yeah I wanna be, wanna be queen,” these songs will remind you of the boss, queen and icon you are.

“Don’t Touch My Hair” by Solange (feat. Sampha)
“New Rules (Initial Talk Remix)” by Dua Lipa
“Send My Love (To Your New Lover)” by Adele
“Supercut” by Lorde
“Me & My Girls” by Selena Gomez
“Strangers” by Sigrid
“How to Be a Heartbreaker” by Marina and The Diamonds
“Advice” by Kehlani

It wouldn’t be Galentine’s Day without taking the words of Leslie Knope to heart: “Ovaries before brovaries.” These artists, with songs new, old and remixed, want you to know that while February may be a month for romance and dates, those relationships pale in comparison to the relationships you have with your lady friends. These songs will remind you that the best people in your life are your ladies, and there is no better feeling than singing these songs with the women you love.

“Amigas Cheetahs” by The Cheetah Girls
“Potential Breakup Song” by Aly & AJ
“The Climb” by Miley Cyrus
“One, Two Step” by Ciara (feat. Missy Elliott)
“La la Land” by Demi Lovato

Of course, no playlist is complete without some throwbacks. But you won’t hear “Wonderwall” in this mix. Instead, you’ll hear the middle school jams that hopefully send you back to blissful days of hanging out with your girlfriends, playing Club Penguin and crimping each other’s hair. The Cheetah Girls, Demi, Miley and more will bring out your inner Lisa Frank-loving self.

“Bird Set Free” by Sia
“Hey Girl” by Lady Gaga (feat. Florence Welch)
“Feeling Myself” by Nicki Minaj (feat. Beyoncé)
“Black Sheep” by Gin Wigmore
“Grigio Girls” by Lady Gaga
“Crazy Beautiful Life” by Kesha

The most important part of Galentine’s Day is knowing that while you celebrate the amazing women in your life, you should celebrate yourself too. Sia’s “Bird Set Free” powerfully reminds us of all that we’ve overcome, while Nicki Minaj and Beyoncé’s iconic collaboration “Feeling Myself” will make you fall back in love with your sexy self. Finally, closing the playlist is Kesha’s “Crazy Beautiful Life,” because in between all the weirdness and stress that adulthood brings, there’s always time to spend with your girls, and that’s a beautiful life.

This playlist is perfect for all situations: jamming in the car, dancing with friends, scream-singing in the shower and anywhere else that you want to prep for Galentine’s Day. Now go and get ready for a day filled with love (friendship love, the best kind)!
