The No. 16 Missouri Tigers gymnastics team scored a 49.400 on their final rotation to complete the upset over the No. 10 Kentucky Wildcats on Friday by a score of 196.25 to 196.00. The Tigers scored a 146.850 floor score, good for sixth highest floor score in program history. This upset over No. 10 Wildcats marked MU’s first victory against a top 10 opponent this season.

The Tigers 49.400 floor score on their final rotation helped lead Missouri to a season high floor score. Mizzou’s final rotation was led by redshirt senior Morgan Porter, junior Aspen Tucker, and Sophomore Gabrielle Gottula, who all three scored 9.9s. The 9.9 was a career-high for Gottula. Senior Allison Bower and junior Mary Nicholson both scored a 9.85 and Michaelee Turner added 9.825 to the Tigers’ score. Also, Morgan Porter notched her all-around season-high score of 39.325. On the opening vault, Mizzou scored an impressive 48.800. Tiger freshman Frances Bidwill scored a career best 9.85 as she debuted her Yurchenko 1.5. The Tigers also received help from Morgan Porter who added 9.8 to the Tigers score and Gabrielle Gottula who received a score of 9.775. On the second rotation Missouri’s Porter and Schugel received 9.85. Mizzou’s Tucker also added a score of 9.8 in the leadoff spot.

For the Wildcats, the score of 196.00 was a disappointment. It was UK’s lowest score in four matches, since a loss to Auburn on February 1 in which they received the same score.

Next up for the Tigers is the State of Missouri Meet, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri as the Tigers will face Lindenwood and the Southeast Missouri State Redhawks.
