Tennis gets third consecutive shutout, wins 7-0 against Colorado State

Kelli Hine led a great performance early on Valentines Day, winning both of her matches as the Tigers would go on to sweep the Colorado State Rams by a final of 7-0 for their third consecutive shutout win.

On an early morning showdown in Lincoln, Nebraska, the Missouri Tennis team would continue their strong performances in doubles play. Brianna Lashway and Cassidy Spearman would begin the morning with an 8-3 victory.

Also winning 8-3, Kelli Hine and Madison Rhyner would help Missouri clinch the doubles point, as Beatriz Machado Santos and Brittany Lashway would win their doubles match.

Junior Kelli Hine would continue her solid singles play, winning her seventh consecutive singles match on Saturday morning, topping Colorado State’s Natalie Heffron by a final of 6-2, 6-1.

Another top performer for the Tigers was Beatriz Santos, who shutout her opponent in singles winning 6-0, 6-0. Santos has now won six consecutive singles matches. Santos went number four in singles.

Four Tigers went a combined 2-0 against the Rams, including victories in singles by Spearman who won 6-2, 6-0, Rhyner, winning 7-6, 6-1, Raley, topping Maddie Buxton 6-3, 6-3, and Lashway who won 6-1, 6-0.

Missouri now stands at 7-2 in the early season and will look to keep their dominant play up as they hit the court on Sunday morning, as the Tigers take on the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
