Friday, February 12–

After defeating Kansas State on Wednesday to match their best start in program history, the Mizzou tennis team fell to No. 32 Wichita State on Thursday, 4-2.

The Tigers were unable to pick up the doubles point for just the second time this season. At the No. 2 position, sophomore Brianna Lashway and junior Cassidy Spearman lost a competitive 7-5 set to seniors Rebecca Pedrazzi and Aleksandra Trifunovic.

Junior Brittany Lashway and sophomore Clare Raley also fell 6-2 in the No. 3 position to sophomore Giulia Guidetti and junior Luca Pump.

In singles play, senior Kelli Hine put Mizzou on the board defeating Guidetti in straight sets 6-3, 6-3. With the win, Hine remains undefeated in singles play this season. Brianna Lashway would get some revenge on Pedrazzi in her singles match, taking down the senior 6-3, 6-4.

However, the Shockers used victories at the No. 1, No. 4 and No. 5 slots to eventually pull away and spoil the Tigers’ seven-match winning streak. Raley, Brittany Lashway and junior Bea Machado Santos all fell in straight sets.

Mizzou will look to rebound on Friday when they welcome the BYU Cougars to the Mizzou Tennis Complex at 12 p.m. For more live updates and information, keep it here at mutv.missouri.edu or follow @MizzouTennis on Twitter.
