‘The Carrie Diaries’ Recap: ‘Read Before Use’

Thursday, Jan. 31-

This week’s episode of the “The Carrie Diaries” was all about labeling people, as it was entitled  “Read Before Use”. As Carrie’s friends continue to deal with the drama of high school relationships, she digs deeper into why her father is prohibiting her from dating Sebastian.

After a little dishonest searching through her dad’s case files, Carrie realizes that his reasoning lies within some secrets about Sebastian’s bad boy past. Although, Carrie learns of Sebastian’s actions, she decides to not let anyone (including her father) control her choice to go after what she wants.

However, Carrie’s snooping may have cost her Sebastian’s trust. In the midst of her soul searching, Carrie also must choose whether to stick to what she believes in or to conform to the outlandish behaviors of her new urban friends. Like every teenage girl, Carrie faces the challenge of finding her identity with so many different influences. She takes step closer to figuring herself out and has a few epiphanies in the process.

Carrie ends the episode with words that could not be anymore true, “the one thing you have to remember about labels is they only matter if you let them stick.” One of the best qualities of Carrie’s character is that she doesn’t.

Whether it be the crazy cute print dress she wore in the episode, or the gravity defying life decisions she makes; Carrie Bradshaw is an individual. And, frankly, we could all use a little dose of that.
