Mizzou Women’s Basketball headed to Vermillion, SD in the face of defeat. On Thursday night, the Tigers fell to South Dakota, 72-64.

Multiple lead changes in the first half kept the game balanced to begin. The Tigers were able to manage well enough to keep the game within 1 point to finish the first quarter. During the second quarter, they fell behind a little further. Completion of the first two quarters resulted in a 6 point loss of the first half for the Tigers.

During the second half, the Tigers were never able to regain the lead from South Dakota. The margin of deficit gradually increased as the game reached its end. The Tigers finished the game with more turnovers and a lower total shooting percentage than South Dakota, being a huge factor in their loss Thursday night.

The leading scorer for the Tigers was freshman forward Hayley Frank. She led the team with 15 points. Senior guard Jordan Chavis was next in line with 11 points, sinking 3 three-point shots. Senior guard Amber Smith was tied as the game’s leading rebounder with 6 total rebounds.

Through all efforts made by Mizzou Women’s Basketball, they were not able to achieve victory against South Dakota. This makes the Tigers record now 1-4 against non-conference opponents. The Tigers’ next game will take place in Columbia, MO, at Mizzou Arena. The game will tip-off Sunday, Nov. 24, at 2PM vs. Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. The game will be broadcast live on SEC Network +.
