Kanye West threw around many album titles on the Twitter universe to get people excited about his long awaited and anticipated album that debuted Feb. 11 during his Yeezy Season 3 fashion show. What was Kanye trying to do by holding off the name of the album until its release? Did it help him? Did it hurt him? Did it build anticipation? Did it cause people to lose interest in the album?

West started to gain a lot of momentum with this album when he released two songs that he said would be on the album- “Real Friends” and “No More Parties in LA” featuring Kendrick Lamar. On these two particular songs, he didn’t do anything out of the ordinary, he didn’t go far to the left and he didn’t go too far to the right. They weren’t the best songs he’s ever made, but they were a good throwback to the Kanye that people fell in love with when they first heard him on “The College Dropout” and “Late Registration.”

These good songs that Kanye dropped for the people had many people excited and others worried. Knowing Kanye, he will make you think you know what he is going to do, and he does the exact opposite. The first album title he had was “SWISH,” and for a while he stuck with that. But seemingly out of nowhere, he decided he wanted to scratch that name and change it to “Waves.” Many people were confused over this change, because many people were satisfied and had their minds set on “Swish.” This gave off the impression that Kanye was unprepared to release his own album and that he was in a rush.

This caused a problem not only in the eyes of many fans, but also in the eyes of Wiz Khalifa, calling out West claiming he needs too pay respects to the originator of “Wavy”. This caused a Twitter beef between the two where Kanye claimed to own his son.

Then on Feb. 8, he changed the album title again to “T.L.O.P.” and said whoever guesses the album title gets a free pair of Adidas and tickets to the Yeezy Season 3 fashion show. That was the third time he had changed the name of his album and his second time in the past three weeks. The indecisive rapper could not make up his mind.

On the other hand, many fans on twitter could and came up with some ideas. This prize West has put out there has caused for people to come up with some of the craziest, funniest and weirdest album names. One fan guessed“The Lord of Performance.” Another fan asked if it was “The Last Option Possible.” The one that was the most promising of them all was, “The Last Original Prophet.” Kanye claims to be “Yeezus” and on one occasion claimed for this to be a gospel album.

In all honesty, no one had any idea that West’s album was going to be called “The Life of Pablo.” However, the more important thing is the quality of the music. West needed to focus on that instead of album titles if he wanted to satisfy his fan base.
