The Mizzou track team competed at the Razorback Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The two day meet was held on January 31st and February 1st. The invitational fielded elite competition as 12 teams ranked in the top-25 nationally.

The Tigers weekend was highlighted by Redshirt senior Thomas George setting a new record in the 3000m with a time of 8:00.21. George beat Kieran Wood’s previous record of 8:01.77 set last season. George’s record setting time was good for second place at the meet.

The 3000m faired well on the women’s side as well. Freshman Ginger Murnieks placed fifth with a PR time of 9:50.38. Isabelle Christiansen and Lexi Maddox finished 10th and 15th, respectively.

Jayson Ashford finished second in the 400m with a time of 47.58 which puts him at number eight in the school record books. Jacob Brunsman barely missed out on a top 10 finish with a 48.80 PR.

Sophomore Martin Prodanov turned his momentum from last week’s win in the 3000m into a fourth place finish in the Mile with a 4:04.02 finish. Sarah Chapman finished seventh in the mile with a PR of 4:42.65.

Mizzou will return home to host the Mizzou Open on February 7th. The meet will be held in the Hearnes Center Fieldhouse. Field events will commence at 10:45 followed by track events at 11:30. The home meet should be a good change of pace before heading back on the road to Iowa State on February 14 – 15.
