Throwers Carry Missouri Track at Triton Invitational

The Missouri women’s track and field continued to get strong performances from its throwers. This time, the throwers carried the Tigers at the Triton Invitational.

Kearsten Peoples set a season-best throw in the shot put with a throw of 17.90m, good for third in the event and the best regular season shot put throw in her career. Peoples also finished eighth in women’s hammer throw with a toss of 58.52m and 11th in women’s discus with a throw of 48.31m.

Katie Evans also set a new personal-best shot put in San Diego, this one at a distance of 15.41 and good enough for fourth. Evans also placed 19th in women’s discus with a throw of 45.93m and 37th in women’s hammer throw with a throw of 45.20m.

Jill Rushin also placed for the Tigers at the invitational. However, she did not set any new personal records. Rushin placed sixth in women’s discus with a throw of 51.62m and seventh in women’s shot put with a throw of16.82m.

The Missouri track and field team, which was split between the Triton Invitational, the Penn Relays and the Drake Relays, has one more regular season against Wisconsin on May 3 before departing for the SEC Track and Field Championships in Lexington, Ky., starting on May, 15.
