Tiger Garden Ensured that Everyone Had the Perfect Flower for the Perfect Valentines Day

Tiger Garden is a predominantly student-run flower shop located on campus in the Anheuser- Busch Natural Resources building. Though hands on experience, student employees experience the stressful, yet rewarding challenges of running a small business.

Now students have been preparing for the busiest day of the year, Valentines Day.  Kim Martin, Tiger Garden Supervisor and Plant Sciences Design Instructor stated that the shop has been planning for Valentines Day since December. Martin serves as a mentor to students and says that some of the biggest challenges of Valentines Day is constantly working without breaks, de-thorning roses, and standing for long periods of time.

Although the preparation takes hard work and long hours, Martin says they have already surpassed their monetary goal. Compared to a normal day of 20 orders of flowers, around Valentines Day they can expect around 500 orders.

Tiger Garden also provides a wide variety of options for flowers. Many of the flowers found in the store are imported from California and all roses are imported from South America. When ordering an arrangement, Martin suggests trusting the florist for the most creative arrangement, instead of always going for a standard option.

The store stresses to its costumers that they can work with their budget, and have something for everyone. Tiger Garden also sells chocolate covered strawberries, balloons and stuffed animals for an affordable price.

Even on the busiest day of the year for Tiger Garden, their service continued to be friendly and prompt, ensuring that everyone had the perfect flowers and gifts for a perfect Valentines Day.
