Tiger Swim Takes to the Road

Missouri’s swimming and diving teams went on the road to Southern Illinois for the Saluki invitationals where they went head to head against the Kentucky Bobcats, the Northwestern Wildcats, and the Southern Illinois Salukis.

Mizzou’s Men’s team (3-1, 1-1 in the Southeastern Conference) was able to earn wins over Southern Illinois (284-68) and Northwestern (279-68), but fell to Kentucky (213-140).

Mizzou’s Women’s team (1-3, 0-3 in the Southeastern Conference) defeated Southern Illinois (253-100) but lost to Kentucky (187.5-165.5).

The women’s swimming and diving team was filled with stars including Senior Sharli Brady and Junior Annie Ochitwa, who each won three events to lead the Mizzou swimming and diving teams. Ochitwa won the 50-meter freestyle and the 100 meters fly, and was able to lead in the 100 freestyle. Brady won the 400 medleys as well as the 200 medleys and the 200 fly. She was also able to make her first NCAA time of the season in the 400 medleys.

Giovanny Lima won the 200 and 500-meter freestyles during the event, where he also was able to clock the fastest 200 time of the season, remaining undefeated in the event this season.

Other winners include Kendra Kieser in the 1-meter, Daniel Hein in the 100 backstroke, and Micah Slaton in the 100 butterfly.

After these results Mizzou’s Men’s team is in 7th place in the SEC, while Mizzou’s Women’s team is in 9th

Mizzou will have over a week to rest and prepare for their next match, where. the Tigers will host the Mizzou invite on November 16th through the 18th.
