The Mizzou Tennis team kicked off their season on a strong note, winning 14-16 matches in wins over both SEMO and Central Arkansas at home. The doubleheader meet started with the Tigers facing off against SEMO. Mizzou won two of the three doubles matches, thanks to strong performances by the pairing of Amina Ismail and Taylor Gruber and the team of Mackenzy Middlebrooks and Ellie Wright. Ismail and Grubber, who played in their first match together, rolled to a 6-2 victory, while Middlebrooks and Wright dominated for a 6-1 win.

In the singles matches against SEMO Mizzou played just as well as in the doubles. Wright secured a 6-1, 6-1 win in her singles match. Middlebrooks and Ismail both had similar success, both winning by a score of 6-2, 6-1. Clare Raley and Gruber both won the first sets of their respective matches when the coaches agreed to end the dual.

In the afternoon doubles sessions against Central Arkansas, Mizzou looked even sharper than they did in the morning, sweeping all three doubles matches. That momentum also carried through into the singles matches, where the Tigers won five out of the six contests.

Mizzou will head to Ithaca, New York to face off against Cornell in their next meet on Friday, January 26th.
