Cross Country recap

This past friday, the University of Missouri Men’s and Women’s cross country teams travelled to Illinois to compete at the Illinois State Invitational for their second race of the season. In the women’s 5k race the Tigers dominated the field, claiming five of the top six places overall and putting up 20 points as a team, winning them their second-straight first place finish to start the season. The men’s team also fared well against the competition in the 8k race, posting 72 points and placing third only to North Central Illinois and Illinois state.

Leading the charge for the Tiger women was freshman Reilly Revord, crossing the line second overall and breaking the 18:00 barrier with a 17:59. Her teammates followed close behind with Tori Findley, Sophia Racette, Melissa Menghini, Mikayla Reed, and Jordyn Kleve rounding out the scoring for the Tigers. All of the top five crossed the line in 18:17 or faster. The girls’ performance rewarded them a near perfect score, with Loyola Chicago’s Lindsey Brewis the only non-Tiger finishing in the top six.

On the men’s side, redshirt junior Thomas George was the first Tiger to cross the line in the men’s 8k, finishing third overall with a time of 25:16. Next to cross for Missouri was Kieran Wood in 10th, Martin Prodanov in 14th, Stephen Mugeche in 15th, and in Justin Loquercio 30th.

The Tigers will be back at it on Saturday September 29th at the Loyola Lakefront Invitational, where the women will look to continue their undefeated season and the men will be hungry for another strong performance.
