The fifth ranked Missouri Tiger Wrestling team traveled to Ames, Iowa to take on the 11th ranked Iowa State Cyclones to wrap up the 2018-19 regular season. Missouri was able to take down the Cyclones 23-15. The Tigers came into this match wanting to get back to their winning ways after losing their home match to Oklahoma State 19-15.
The Tigers were led by redshirt Senior Daniel Lewis, who earned his 47th career pin as a Tiger. Lewis’s 47 career pins are tied for second most in Mizzou history. Fellow Redshirt Senior John Erneste tallied a technical fall over his opponent. Junior Jaydin Eierman also enjoyed a good day as he racked up his fifth straight pin; he now has a team-leading 14 on the season. Tigers freshman Brock Mauller lost to 13th ranked Jarrett Degen 11-4; this marks Degen’s second loss of the season and ended his personal 15 match win streak. At the 157-weight class freshman Jarrett Jacques won with a 5-2 decision, which he was able to score on a pair of takedowns. Tiger Dylan Wisman ended his match on the wrong end of a 3-2 decision in his highly anticipated top-20 matchup. This match rounded out the Tigers regular season. Overall, it was another great one for the Tigers, who finished 16-1 overall and are ranked fifth in the Nation.
Next up for the Tigers is a trip to Norfolk, Virginia, where they will begin their postseason and compete in the MAC Championship on March 8 and March 9.
