Tiger XC Competes at the Louisville Classic

Saturday, Sept. 29-

On Saturday, both Mizzou’s men’s and women’s cross country teams traveled to Louisville, Ky., for the 11th Annual Greater Louisville Classic. It was the first time either team competed against many of the top SEC competitors.

The men’s team had an impressive show, placing a respectable fourth with a point total of 152. Fellow SEC member Georgia placed a close third with a total of 143 points.

Senior Max Storms ran the quickest time for the Tigers, finishing 16th overall after running a solid 24:09.72. Other Tigers placing in the top 50 included freshman Tyler Schneider (27th), juniors Hayden Legg (35th) and Merid Seleshi (36th), and sophomore Bryant Blahnik (41st).

255 men individually ran to represent the 31 different teams competing at the 8k course. The average team time was 24:26.96.

Of the 31 teams competing, the Mizzou women’s team placed 16th with an average team time of 17:58.90.

The Tigers had two women place in the top 100. Senior Bailey Belvis placed 27th after running 17:20.59 and junior Kaitie Vanatta came in 85th with a 17:54.41.

Both teams are slated to run again at the Gary Stoner Invitational in Fayette, Mo., on October 6.
