The Mizzou Baseball team didn’t waste any time on Tuesday, as they quickly disposed of the Arkansas State Red Wolves by a score of 11-1. This was their eighth win in their last ten games.

The offense was firing on all cylinders from the start of this game as the Tigers picked up a run in the first and three more in the second. The biggest contributor was definitely senior third baseman Alex Samples. Samples went a perfect three for three on the night and also drove in five to really anchor the offense. Connor Brumfield added three hits of his own and Kameron Misner went two for two with a pair of RBI’s and a pair of walks. At the end of the day the Tigers had 11 runs on 13 hits. Arkansas State most of their offense from first baseman Kyle McDonald who went two for four with a triple that led to their only run of the night.

As far as pitching goes, Tyler LaPlante did exactly what the Tigers needed him to do, going five scoreless innings on just 59 pitches. After those five innings the lead was up to 9-0 so LaPlante was pulled to keep him fresh as well as give some other Tigers a chance to throw. Jordan Gubelman, Drake Greenwood, Cameron Pferrer, and Ryan Rickett tossed the final four innings. Gubelman and Rickett threw perfect innings and picked up two strikeouts a piece. Arkansas starter Nate Alberius only pitched the first inning where he gave up a run. From there it all went down hill for the Red Wolves.

Mizzou is now 16-5 on the season and has yet to lose in Columbia. They will finish up the series against Arkansas State on Wednesday before Mississippi State comes to town on Friday for a three game weekend series.
