The Mizzou golf team finished up their 2018 fall season with a trip to Hawaii, competing in the Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational. The Tigers finished second on the weekend, falling just two shots short of the No. 11 ranked Pepperdine Waves. The Tigers were able to beat out three other ranked teams: the Louisville Cardinals (No. 15), the Purdue Boilermakers (No. 37) and the Ole Miss Rebels (No. 44). They were able to do so by shooting the team’s lowest tournament total of the season, a 838.

Missouri was led by Rory Franssen and Jamie Stewart, who both tied for sixth place and shot a nine under 207 on the weekend. This was Franssen’s second top-10 finish of the season and his lowest 54-hole tournament of his 2018 season. Stewart finished the fall season with 69 birdies and three top-10 finishes. The Tigers third highest ranked player on the weekend was junior Ricky Sanders, who finished 17th and shot six under 210. Senior Matt Echelmeier was the fourth and final Tiger to finish under par with the total of two under 214. Sophomore Jack Parker also completed and finished two over par 218, while Senior Luigi Botta finished out the Tigers lineup with six over 222.

Finishing second out of 20 including beating out three ranked teams was a solid way to end the Tigers’ fall run. They will look to carry the momentum of a strong finish to into the 2019 spring season, which starts February 16th at the Suntrust Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Florida.
