The Mizzou women’s golf team took the cake for the 6th consecutive year at the Johnie Imes Invitational tournament this week. The Tigers blew their competition out of the water as they trumped the second-place contestants, Oral Roberts, by a whole seven strokes. They performed at The Club at Old Hawthorne from Monday, Sept. 30th to Wednesday, Oct. 2nd. The tigers posted impressive scores of 290,289 and 289 to finish with an overall team score of 868 (4-over).

There were many key players that lead the team to their championship title. Junior Noelle Beijer finished 3rd in the tournament with a score of 211 (5-under). This is her second Top-12 finish of the season. Head Coach Stephanie Priesmeyer stated that Beijer was an important asset to the big win this week.

Additionally, senior Cherise Otter also came out swinging with a strong week in her last Johnie Imes invitational ever. She tied her career best by shooting a 3-under 69 which propelled her to the leaderboards and put her at first place going into the last day of the tournament. After a 3-day score of 213 (3-under), she finished in a tie for fourth place.

Freshmen Sophia Yoemans and Bri Bolden both made the tigers proud as they finished the week in 18th and 13th place with impressive scores. Bolden marked her best tournament score of the year and Yoemans impressively made her second Top-20 finish of the season.
The women’s golf team will compete next on October 20th in San Macros, Tex. For the Jim West Challenge. The tigers finished seventh at the tournament last year and hope to match or top it in the upcoming weeks.
