The Missouri Golf team participated in the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate this past weekend in Jonesborough, Tennessee. Overall, it was a pretty strong performance for Missouri, as the Tigers ranked in the top half of the finishers with a seventh place finish out of 14 teams. They finished 12-under par 852 (281-284-287) and had a total of 52 birdies and shot 1-under par in the final round. The Tigers finished 20 strokes behind East Tennessee State, who won the tournament.

The first day of the event was the best for the Tigers, and Mizzou was in fifth place after their first round 281. Missouri followed that performance up with a 284 the next day. Sophomore Rory Franssen had his best round of the tournament on day two, shooting a 69. On day three Mizzou’s total went up again, this time to 287. Tigers sophomore Jamie Stewart had the Tigers’ best round of the entire tournament on this day, scoring a 68.

Stewart put on a show as he ended the weekend 10 under par resulting in him tying for sixth place. He also finished the weekend with a total of 15 birdies. This top 10 finish is Stewart’s second of the season, and he has now placed in the top 20 in his last six tournaments. Franssen was Mizzou’s second top 20 finisher as he shot four under par, making it his third top 20 finish of the season.

The Tigers now get some time off as they prepare for their next tournament, which is Oct. 28-30 in the Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational in Kauai, Hawaii.
