The Missouri Softball team picked up decisive wins in both ends of its doubleheader on Saturday. This was Missouri’s first time playing at its home field this season.

In the morning the Tigers matched up against Wichita State. Wichita State drew first blood, scoring in both the first and second innings. Missouri was able to cut the lead in the third inning on a Hatti Moore RBI single.

Wichita was leading by a score of two to one before Missouri broke it open in the fourth inning. The Tigers scored two in the bottom half of the inning before Kimberly Wert gave Mizzou a commanding lead with a bases loaded, three run double.

Jordan Weber earned the win in game one, pitching 3.2 innings and giving up one run. Bailey Lange was handed the loss for Wichita State. Missouri won by a score of seven to three.

In the afternoon game, the story was very similar. Missouri took on Nebraska and the game was close until the Missouri bats were ignited in the latter innings.

Both starters were strong through the first five innings, but Nebraska’s Olivia Ferrell began to falter in the sixth. Missouri was able to put up six runs in the inning, highlighted by homeruns from Jazmyn Rollin and Hattie Moore.

Emma Nichols earned the win for Missouri, pitching six innings and giving up one run on six hits. Ferrell was the losing pitcher.

The 21st ranked Tigers will play the same two teams tomorrow, Sunday, at 10 pm and 3 pm.
