The Missouri women’s basketball team (10-3) remained home as they continued their four-game home stretch when they took on UC-Riverside. The Tigers extended their season-high winning streak to four games after beating UC-Riverside by a score of 68-62.

The Tigers owe their success to sophomore Cierra Porter, as she had 26 points and 12 total rebounds for Missouri.

Mizzou held UC-Riverside to no points for the first four minutes of game play while the Tigers took an early 16-point lead by.

Missouri had an excellent first quarter shooting as they put up 27 points to give them a comfortable lead heading into the second quarter.

Sophie Cunningham led the Tigers in the first half with 14 points, helping her team’s strong offensive performance. The Tigers went into halftime leading 41-29 and were shooting 60 percent from the field and 50 percent from outside the arc.

Mizzou came into the second half with a 12-point lead and knew they had to keep fighting to stay undefeated at home this season.

Porter stepped in during the third quarter with 10 points to help the Tigers maintain their lead heading into the last 10 minutes of the game.

In the fourth quarter, UC-Riverside rallied back, cutting the Tigers lead to a slim four points with 2:48 left in the game. But UC-Riverside failed to convert on Sierra Michaelis’ turnover with a little over two minutes remaining and Missouri would hold on to their lead, beating UC-Riverside.

The Tigers look to keep their winning streak alive as they have one more non-conference game left in St. Louis against Saint Louis University (8-3). Missouri will begin conference play in the Southeastern Conference on Sunday, Jan. 1, as they will host the Georgia Bulldogs.
