Tigers Outshine Golden Flashes

Friday, Dec. 9 –

In yet another victory over a top 25 opponent, the Tigers downed the No. 20 Kent St. Golden Flashes. In a decisive victory, superstar Alan Waters once again led the way in a 34-12 rout.

Waters opened the meet for the Tigers, stomping No. 2 Nic Bedelyon 12-1. Waters is now 8-0 on the year and has established himself as one of the premier grapplers in the nation. The opening victory gave the Tigers a quick 4-0 lead.

Junior Nathan McCormick continued the blowout, pushing the lead to 10-0. McCormick pinned Kent State’s Steve Mitcheff in the first period to secure the victory. Bradon Weist suffered a rare defeat, losing to Kent State’s Tyler Small to close the gap to 10-6.

Luckily for Mizzou, the gap lad would never get that close again. Kyle Bradley took down Ian Miller in a great contest that put Mizzou up 16-6.

Kent St. wouldn’t quit, closing the gap tp16-9 on a Drake Houdashelt upset, but the Tigers were not out to lose this match.

After a victory by Zach Toal, the lead became a 10-point edge in Missouri’s favor. A Dorian Henderson win that followed all but closed out the match.

Mike Larson would continue the success for Mizzou, winning yet another match for the Tigers to push the lead to 31-9. A few more quick finishes ended the match.

The Tigers have been outstanding this year and have ascended all the way to No. 12 in the national rankings. They have clobbered several top 25 teams and are a huge favorite in the Big 12 race.
