Tigers pick up Semifinal win in Paradise

After their three-point win over the Kennesaw State Owls in the first round of the Paradise Jam, the Tigers suited up against Pac-12 opponent Oregon State, who was coming off a win against Old Dominion in their first round matchup. The Tigers overcame their offensive struggles as they scored a season high 69 points in a 69-63 win over the Beavers.

The story of the day was Senior leaders Jordan Geist and Kevin Puryear, who combined for 38 of the Tigers 69 points. Foul trouble from sophomores Jeremiah Tilmon and Mark Smith forced back-up big man Reed Nikko to play extended minutes. The Tigers leading scorer, Mark Smith was sent to the bench early with foul trouble. Without the leading scorer on the floor the Tigers lead slowly disappeared but it was senior guard Jordan Geist that stepped up offensively for the Tigers as he scored a season high 21 points. Geist received help from fellow senior Kevin Puryear, who netted 17 points and snatched 7 rebounds. The foul trouble continued for starting big man Jeremiah Tilmon, as he picked up his third foul and was sent to the bench with 16 minutes left in the game, eventually fouling out for the first time this season. Junior big man Reed Nikko came in and helped the Tigers tie the game at 42. The Tigers got the lead back with the help from making 79 percent of their free throws. Seniors Geist and Puryear combined 18-21 from the free throw line as Missouri went on to beat Oregon State 69-63.

The Tigers are set to face the Kansas State Wildcats in the Championship game of the Paradise Jam, on Monday, November 19th at 6:30 pm Central Time.
