The Missouri Tigers women’s basketball team (21-9, 10-6) hosted the Alabama Crimson Tide (13-16, 5-11) as Mizzou honored their 2019 Seniors Sunday at Mizzou Arena. Tiger seniors Sophie Cunningham, Cierra Porter, and Lauren Aldridge combined for 40 points as they led Missouri to an 82-47 victory.

This one was a blowout about from the tip. A Sophie Cunningham three pointer gave Mizzou a quick 3-0 lead, a lead they never relinquished. Mizzou held a 21-5 advantage after one quarter, and although the Crimson Tide outscored the Tigers in the second, Mizzou’s lead never in doubt.

The Missouri Tigers were led by Sophie Cunningham, who scored 22 points, dished five assists, and snatched eight rebounds. Cierra Porter also scored double digits in her last regular season game with the Tigers as she netted 11 points and grabbed seven rebounds. The Tigers benefited from a well-rounded team performance as four Tigers scored in double digits. The 35 point win was the Tigers’ largest win by point total of the season. Mizzou’s defense also made its mark on the game with a season high 11 steals. And Mizzou had the hot hand from behind the 3-point line as well, knocking down 15 three pointers. The Tigers also shot an 53.8% overall from the field on the day.

Overall, the Crimson Tide were led by Guard Cierra Johnson, who was able to notch a 22-point game. Alabama also received help from Forward Ariyah Copeland, who scored eight points and snatched nine rebounds.

Now that the regular season has ended the Tigers now get ready for the SEC Tournament in Greenville, South Carolina, which starts on March 7. The Tigers received the fifth seed in the tournament and will play the victor of the Ole Miss/Florida game.
