Tigers Snap SEC Road Losing Streak

The Missouri Tigers men’s basketball team has been dominant at home this season. The Tigers sit at 7-0 when playing games in Mizzou Arena. MU’s three losses on the year have come on the road or in neutral territory. Mizzou’s 3-3 record on the road is not something Tiger’s fans are thrilled about, but an even scarier statistic is that Mizzou has not won an SEC road game since 2014. Mizzou would finally pick up an SEC road win in their first conference game of the season on Wednesday. MU barely slipped by in a close one against South Carolina, 79-68. The Tigers survived a late surge from the Gamecocks after Jontay Porter and Jeremiah Tilmon both fouled out.

For Mizzou, Kassius Robertson led all players in scoring with twenty-three points. This marked his fourth twenty-point game this year. Jordan Barnett and Jontay Porter both finished with nineteen points on the night. Jordan Geist was the only other Tiger to score double-digit points as he scored ten to go along with four rebounds and six assists.

Only two Gamecocks scored at least ten points on Wednesday. South Carolina was led in scoring by Chris Silva. The junior finished with eighteen points to go along with five boards. Wes Myers totaled ten points on the night. South Carolina only recorded eight assists as a team, and this was without a doubt one of the massive reasons that they gave this game away to the Tigers.

Mizzou moves to 11-3 on the season and 1-0 in SEC play with the win. The Tigers will move on to play Florida on Saturday.
