It was a tough Saturday for the Mizzou softball team, as they came up short in both games of the double header against Oklahoma State and Marshall. The team is now 4-5 starting off the season.

Against #15 Oklahoma State the Tigers definitely held their own. Lauren Rice got the ball to start the game and she never gave up her position on the mound going six innings and only allowing 3 runs. She pitched a good game but Alysha Everett was just slightly better, allowing only 2 to score over her six innings of work. One of those runs came across on a solo shot from shortstop Braxton Burnside, her first of the year. In the end though the Tigers lost 3-2 to start off the day.

When the second game rolled around the team looked fatigued and it showed in the three errors. Unearned runs came back to bite them. Only 3 of the 8 Marshall scored were earned. Burnside did continue her hot day at the plate however going 2 for 3 with at the plate as well as a walk. If some of the others can get going offensively this team will compete with just about anyone.

They will try and get things back on track Sunday the 18th when they play the University of Southern Florida and Florida international University. S
