Tigers Split Series With Central Arkansas

Wednesday, March 28 –

The Missouri Tigers baseball team split their series with the Central Arkansas Bears, winning the first game and dropping the second.

In the first game, the Bears got off to an early 4-0 lead before the Tigers found their offense, scoring 12 runs over the next six innings to pick up the victory.

Offensively, left fielder Scott Sommerfield led the Tigers with three RBI. On the other side of things, Kyle Barbeck picked up his first win of the season in relief, pitching one inning and allowing one run.

The Tigers weren’t as fortunate in the second game of the series, however. Central Arkansas starting pitcher Clint Green pitched a complete game. He allowed 11 hits and two runs while striking out four.

Green was also helped offensively as his offense backed him up with eight runs. Shortstop Blake Marchal and catcher Travis Snider both had two RBI for the Bears.

For the Tigers, this ended a 18-game homestand which took up most of the month of March. The Tigers went 14-4 in the 18 games, and will now travel to College Station, Texas to face the No. 8 Texas A&M Aggies starting Friday, March 30.
