The Missouri Tigers gymnastics team traveled to Lexington, Kentucky, to face off in a meet against the Kentucky Wildcats. Going into this match Mizzou was ranked No. 20 in the country while Kentucky sat at No. 4. Kentucky came into the meet coming off a tough loss against Alabama. The Wildcats took the loss by a little over half a point, 196.925-196.375. Kentucky no doubt used this tough loss to motivate them against the Tigers. This was evident as the Wildcats took a sizeable win over the Tigers, 197.100-195.125.

The Tigers got off to a decent start on the bars as they finished with a 49.050. This would be Mizzou’s highest finish in any event on the day. While Mizzou was on the bars, Kentucky was on the vault. The Wildcats finished with a 49.175 score on the vault to lead Mizzou by 0.125 after one event.

Mizzou struggled on every event after the bars. The Tigers finished with a 48.775 on the vault, a 48.750 on the floor, and a 48.550 on the beam. Kentucky improved on every event after the vault as the scored a 49.300 on the bars, a 49.225 on the beam, and a 49.400 on the floor to finish the meet.

Next for the Wildcats, they will host Ohio State in Lexington, Kentucky on Friday. This will also be Kentucky’s senior night. As for the Tigers, they will travel to Urbana-Champaign, Illinois to face off against Illinois and Illinois Chicago on Sunday. Mizzou’s next home meet will be against Florida on Friday.
